How can I add a retention period?

Modified on Tue, 7 Jan at 10:54 AM

It is possible that there is a legal requirement to delete a dataset after a certain period of time, for example for datasets with medical data. Setting a retention period will help you to do this.

Enabling a retention period is done at the file level. The retention date can only be added for files that have not been published before. (Should this still be necessary, please email the local administrator of the dataset in question). Use the checkboxes to select 1 or more files for which the retention period should apply. Click on ‘Edit Files>Retention Period’. (Please note that this option is not immediately visible when uploading the file, but appears once the file has been added to the draft dataset.) A calendar will appear where the end date must be selected. It is also possible to enter a reason for the retention period. The day after the selected date, the file will no longer be available, only the file metadata will be visible.
